With all that goes on in the world, in the classroom we need to create hope. School teaches us how to behave in society. To be able to work with a variety type people will make leaders. Multicultural activities need to be woven in every day, not just certain days. Our children need to grow a respect for all different cultures in order to effectively communicate in our ever changing virtual world where people of all cultures are coming together every second of every day.
With the world wide web our children will be interacting with people of all cultures. As children grow, they move into more diverse settings, and we want them to be open to and respectful of all kinds of people they encounter.
- Bring in guests of different cultures
- Use puppets to help display diversity.(for the younger children)
- Have different books out for children to explore themselves.
- Encourage family members to come in and show the children different aspects of their culture.
